The Frame

Our frames are handmade in our shop on the Monterey Peninsula in California. We use reclaimed wood that has all the texture and character from its first life, often in a building constructed in the 40’s or 50’s. Each piece of the frame is carefully selected to compliment the image it will surround. The reclaimed wood is gently sanded to remove rough edges. The final step is to apply a dark stain and poly sealant.

Frames for black and white images receive a second coat of stain to give the frame a darker appearance and provide more contrast.

The Print

Photo prints for wood frames – The image is printed on museum grade photo paper with archival inks, and is protected with a non glare 99% UV blocking vinyl laminate. This style is rich without the reflection of light on the surface of the image, because we use a luster/satin finish laminate. **The same technique is utilized for matted images.**

Canvas wrapped images – Images are printed directly on museum grade cotton canvas with archival inks. The canvas is then hand stretched over a wood frame prior to being placed within the finished outer frame.
